Meet the crew.
Coaches who know your name, your goals and which shoulder is acting up. They push hard, cheer louder, and genuinely want you to win.
The two behind it all.

Ashley Mathewson
From day one, Ashley's goal was to give people who felt lost a place to call home, and to help them become their best through healthy living, fitness and community. Masters world champion weightlifter, Canadian national champion and three-time CrossFit Regionals athlete.

Jim Mathewson
Read Jim's bio
Jim is our numbers and building guy. If something runs smoothly around here (or if it needs fixing), Jim is on it.
The systems, numbers and operations brain behind Fit Collective and The Yard Social Club. If something runs smoothly around here, Jim built it.
Our family. Your crew.
Fit Collective is family owned and operated. Ashley and Jim built it, and our kids, Jack and Livy, have grown up here.
This isn't a franchise and it isn't a chain. When you join, you're not a membership number. You're part of the family.
Your people on the floor.

Avery Azzopardi
Read Avery's bio
Avery competed in women's artistic gymnastics from age 8. When she retired, she wanted something that would keep her strong, and Fit Collective was a natural next step. Her gymnastics team had already trained with us for conditioning, and she started training here in July 2024.
She began coaching gymnastics through a Coach in Training program in 2022, holds her SafeSport certification and Sport Specific Foundations training, and has coached kids from parent and tot programs up to age 12, plus a competitive training group.
She is so impressed by what little kids can do, and coaching our youth athletes is a natural extension of what she loves.

Candace Wilson
Read Candace's bio
Fitness has always been a big part of Candace's life, from competitive dance to Brazilian jiu-jitsu and boxing, and then falling in love with CrossFit. Her mission is to be a better version of herself tomorrow than she is today.
She brings 6 years of CrossFit coaching plus personal training and a background in holistic nutrition with a sports specialty. She has worked with semi-pro athletes, postpartum moms, kids and police recruits. As an active duty police officer, fitness has been essential for her mental health and her ability to do the job.
She brings energy and drive, helping members unlock the next gear they didn't know they had. Our bodies are capable of so much more than our minds allow us to believe. CrossFit Level 1 certified. Certified holistic nutritionist, sports specialty.

Marek Kasowski
Read Marek's bio
Marek didn't grow up with a fit lifestyle. He spent most of his youth playing video games, watching anime and sitting on the heavier side. The characters training hard on screen are what got him moving. Specifically the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight. (If you know, you know.)
He started rowing and cross country in high school, then moved into weight training. In the summer of 2013 a friend dominated him in every feat of strength and conditioning. The secret? CrossFit. He started at CrossFit Stoney Creek, joined Fit Collective in 2015, and has since competed in CrossFit events, Tough Mudders and Spartan races.
His message: it doesn't matter where you started or why. If you wake up and feel something needs to change, he'll be here to help make it happen. CrossFit Level 1 certified. BScN, Nursing.

Nik Lashford
Read Nik's bio
Sport has always been part of Nik's life, from competitive football, cricket and rugby growing up in England to competitive water-skiing in his early 20s and snowboarding for fun.
His wife introduced him to CrossFit in 2015, as something to do early in the morning while their daughter was at swim training at Brock. He found his passion for the sport when he joined Ashley in 2017, and he has been coaching functional fitness since 2018.
He loves seeing members succeed in our space, pushing themselves to do things they never thought possible a few months before.
